Fabregas insists Monaco star will neither sign with Arsenal nor Man United
Youssouf Fofana, a target for both Manc United and Arsenal, is reportedly planning to sign with a different team, according to Cesc Fabregas.
Fofana, a midfield player for Monaco who is in the final year of his contract, is anticipated to leave the team this summer. The 25-year-old, who is presently training for Euro 2024 with France, has made a name for himself as a regular member of the national team.
After Monaco finished second to Paris Saint-Germain in the previous season, Fofana was a crucial member of the team helping them qualify for the Champions League. Since moving to Monaco from Strasbourg in 2020, the France international has made 175 appearances for the team, but it looks like his stay in the principality will end this summer. The midfielder has been linked to Premier League giants Arsenal and United, but Fabregas, who played alongside Fofana towards the conclusion of his career, says he’s heard the Frenchman will end up elsewhere this summer transfer window.
Where for Fofana if not Arsenal or Manchester United?
“I know him, I played with him,” Fabregas said on the BBC’s Planet Premier League podcast.
Strangely enough, I had never heard of Man United before. Instead, I had heard that he was heading to AC Milan since [Paulo] Fonseca was likely to move there from France and they know each other, so we’ll see where he ends up.
“However, he’s a very strong, aggressive, and dynamic player who can jump and play box to box. He’s a modern type of player.”I think Fofana is a great match for the Premier League and I truly like him.
Both teams will have a busy summer ahead of them as Arsenal looks for a striker and left back and United needs defensive and midfield additions after Raphael Varane left and Casemiro’s future is uncertain.
