Real Madrid sees the potential signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer as an opportunity too good to miss, according to La Liga insider Matteo Moretto.
The England international has been strongly linked with Los Blancos in recent months, especially with his contract at Liverpool expiring at the end of the season. While talks haven’t progressed significantly, Moretto confirms that Madrid remains highly interested in the right-back.
“The situation hasn’t moved much since we first reported the news in March. Real Madrid are still very keen on Alexander-Arnold,” Moretto stated in Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing.
“They are working on extending Dani Carvajal’s contract as he’s still important in the dressing room. However, the chance to bring in a player like Alexander-Arnold on a free is one that Real Madrid won’t overlook. He remains highly valued by the club.”
Could Bellingham Influence Alexander-Arnold’s Decision?
Given their time together with the England national team, Trent Alexander-Arnold shares a close friendship with Jude Bellingham, who recently joined Real Madrid.
Moretto hinted that Bellingham’s presence in Madrid might play a role in persuading Alexander-Arnold to consider a move to Spain. However, Real Madrid’s immediate challenge is making an official offer before Liverpool can extend the right-back’s contract.
“Jude Bellingham and Alexander-Arnold know each other well,” Moretto added. “Real Madrid has yet to make an official offer to his representatives, and Liverpool also hasn’t started serious contract renewal talks.
“Before making a financial proposal, Madrid will focus on whether Alexander-Arnold wants to leave Liverpool, then they will proceed with negotiations.”
