Leeds pursuit for attacking changes with Erling Haaland alike in mind
Facing another campaign in the Championship, Daniel Farke might be in command of a completely different Leeds United come opening day of the 2024–25 season.
Leeds has to earn a whopping £100 million from player sales this summer in order to balance their books, and Crysencio Summerville is leading the exodus. The Championship player of the season is allegedly desired by clubs throughout Europe and is nearly certain to leave this summer.
Leeds wants to sign the “machine” that mocked Elland Road during the previous campaign. With his championship expertise, he might turn out to be a very wise addition.
Leeds chairman Paraag Marathe has already given a summary of the summer schedule, saying that “We have the funds we need to do what we need, but there will need to be some trade-offs because of [profit and sustainability rules]”. “It is not just outs, it is ins as well, looking at scouting possibilities, but we need to make trade-offs. I can’t talk about specific players right now, it is too early.
The striking tandem of Wilfried Gnonto and Georginio Rutter is also the subject of speculation. Both players have been connected to departures from the team in a number of transactions that would leave Leeds’ attack severely lacking once Jaidon Anthony’s loan period ends and he returns to Bournemouth. It is evident that new players for Leeds’ front line may be needed in the near future, and the Elland Road team appears to be attempting to sign one.
Leeds in pursuit of £12 million striker.
According to recent reports, Leeds is one of several teams interested in signing 21-year-old Adam Hlozek, a striker who is expected to depart Bayer Leverkusen this summer. He used to be regarded as one of the most promising players in the world of football, and Borussia Dortmund reportedly thought about using him to replace Erling Haaland after the latter joined Manchester City. With only seven goals in two seasons at Leverkusen after moving from Sparta Prague, he has struggled at the BayArena since his arrival. It has been rumored that he will be free to depart this summer for under £12 million.
Leeds United has taken notice of this, and according to German publication Bild [via Sport Witness], both the Whites and West Ham would like to sign him this summer. However, they also note that no offers have been made as of yet.
If Leeds decide to make a move later in the window, it will likely be because they are still under pressure to sell players. Whether Leeds can persuade the champion to leave Leverkusen and come to Leeds and the Championship this summer is another story.
