The competition for RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo is intensifying as Barcelona has submitted a second proposal to secure the Spanish midfielder. Olmo, 26, is anticipated to leave the Bundesliga club this summer, especially after his impressive performances at Euro 2024.
Barcelona, heavily linked to Olmo during this transfer window, has made a new offer worth €50 million plus add-ons, according to RAC1. With Athletic Club’s Nico Williams set to stay with the Basque team, Barca can now focus more on acquiring Olmo.
Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reported that Barcelona is pushing hard for Olmo and currently leads the race for his signature. However, the Catalan giants must act swiftly, as other top European clubs, including Premier League champions Manchester City and Bayern Munich, are also monitoring Olmo’s situation closely. While neither Man City nor Bayern Munich has submitted an official proposal yet, one could arrive soon.
Man City’s interest in Olmo poses a significant challenge for Barcelona. The Premier League champions, unburdened by the financial constraints facing Barcelona, are in regular contact with Olmo’s camp. The Spain international would be a valuable addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad at the Etihad Stadium, given his versatility and exceptional talent.
Despite concerns over Olmo’s injury history, it remains to be seen if Manchester City is willing to take that risk ahead of the 2024/25 season.
