Carlo Ancelotti has assured that Kylian Mbappe’s arrival at Real Madrid will not impact Jude Bellingham, even though both players might occupy similar positions on the pitch.
The French star made a highly-anticipated move to Madrid this summer as the club aims to defend their La Liga and Champions League titles. His signing has sparked questions about Bellingham’s role, who played in an advanced central position last season, scoring a career-high 23 goals.
Mbappe joins a talented group of attackers at Madrid, including Bellingham, Vinicius Junior, and Rodrygo. Despite this, Ancelotti has reassured fans that Bellingham’s role won’t be compromised.
“Nothing changes for him. Nothing changes,” Ancelotti stated ahead of Madrid’s pre-season match against Chelsea. “In his first season, he surprised everyone with his fantastic quality and maturity. The next season will be no different.
“He is going to be one of our best players, supporting the team with his quality. In my opinion, Bellingham played exceptionally well at the Euros. England performed well, reaching the final and almost winning it.”
Madrid will face Chelsea in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday, followed by the UEFA Super Cup clash with Atalanta on 14 August. They will then begin the new La Liga season against Mallorca on 18 August.
