Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown believes Arsenal is likely working on adding depth out wide ahead of the January transfer window to provide Bukayo Saka with much-needed rest. Saka has been a crucial figure for Arsenal in recent seasons, but the team lacks strong cover or competition in his position, with loan signing Raheem Sterling yet to make a significant impact.
This has been an ongoing concern for Arsenal, as Saka, despite his young age, has played a substantial amount of football. Strengthening the squad to allow Mikel Arteta to rotate without diminishing the team’s quality would be a smart move.
Arsenal Seeking Cover for Saka
In an interview with Football Insider, Brown commented on Arsenal’s preparations: “Yes, they’ll be looking to bolster their squad depth. When you have a team like Arsenal, you’re always planning for possible injuries, especially with key players like Saka.”
He added, “Arsenal has done a fantastic job to elevate themselves to a level where they can compete with Manchester City, but they don’t yet have the same depth. City can rotate without missing a beat, whereas Arsenal still needs to build that.”
